Split 9 Patch

The split 9 patch is a simple nine patch with 2 half square triangles.
This block can be arranged in any manner as the log cabin block.

• 1/3 yd of 1 medium fabric
• 1/3 yd of 1 light background
• 1/8 yd of 1 dark fabric
• 1/3 yd of medium background fabric
• 1/3 yd of light background fabric

Create a total of 16 split 9 patch blocks.

Create 32 - 3 inch finished half square triangle using medium and background fabric.

• Cut 16 dark 3 ½ inch squares
• Cut 32 light 3 ½ inch squares
• Cut 16 medium 3 ½ inch squares
• 32 light background 3 ½ inch squares
• Cut 16 medium background 3 ½ inch squares
• Assemble blocks following the split 9 patch layout
