When Gael was trying to come up with names, she wanted something simple and generic that didn't start with the words quilt, sew or stitch. It wasn't a pun or too cutesy. Several one-word names were rejected when shared with friends and family. Finally, Gael's friend Diana came up with the name Blue Bar in homage to the generic beer cans from the '70s with a blue stripe that fit the criteria. So blue Bar Quilts it was! Many find it humorous that the initials are BBQ, and occasionally, the business gets mistaken for a drinking establishment because of its name.
